Stage Entertainment was founded in 1998 by Joop van den Ende and now employs around 4,000 people worldwide, with bases in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, France, the UK, the United States, Russia and Italy.
In recent years it has worked with international partners to produce and tour the world’s biggest musical theatre titles including with Disney Theatrical Productions (Tarzan, The Lion King, Aida, Beauty and the Beast, High School Musical), Littlestar (MAMMA MIA!), Andrew Lloyd Webber/Really Useful Group (Cats, Phantom of the Opera, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Joseph), Jacobsen Entertainment (Dirty Dancing) and Vereinigte Bühne Wien (Roman Polanski’s Tanz der Vampire, Elisabeth). The company also develops and produces its own original work, such as Sister Act, Ich war noch Niemals in New York, Ciske de Rat, Ich will Spass! and Der Schuh des Manitu.
Stage Entertainment controls around 30 theatres and venues. The company has invested heavily in audience relations and customer care, a philosophy that stretches from foyer design to programming, exemplified in spaces as diverse as Fortis Circustheater in the Netherlands and the Theater im Hafen in Hamburg to the unique New World Stages, a five stage complex in New York City. 14 million people visit Stage Entertainment’s shows each year.
Stage Entertainment is shareholder in See Tickets International which sells 40 million tickets annually.
